Doctors provide certain benchmarks that are intended to provide parents with a road map to see if their child is developing properly. All too often, new parents are panicked when their child does not reach these early childhood developmental milestones. A person trained in early childhood education gets to work with children everyday to accomplish their milestones at their own pace. Early childhood education degrees are available online to help teachers understand how babies reach their benchmarks.

Some of the early milestones that are obvious are when a baby can begin to focus their eyes. Most babies will be able to see distances and focus their eyes at about two months old. A baby may start to sit up as early as five months old. By three months old, a baby will begin to show a distinct preference for sweet smells. Learning to understand how babies see the world helps early childhood education teachers to teach young children.
