Writing Tips: What is a Writing Voice?

The most important purpose of writing is to convey your ideas and messages to your readers. And the most effective way for your readers to get and understand what these messages are, is by making your words and sentences sound entirely natural. The best way to know if you’re sounding natural is by assessing your own writing voice. But, what is writing voice? Writing voice is quite similar with your actual voice as it also has its tone, pattern, and timbre. This voice is heard by your audiences subconsciously as they can actually hear your tone while reading the ideas and opinions you are trying to point out. If you try to read the book macbeth for example, you can hear the voice of how the characters sound because Shakespeare pins it down very well. Reading such books are very helpful for starters who haven’t figured out their writing voices yet. But this does not mean that you have to mimic the writing voice of another writer. It is very important that you develop your own natural writing voice as it creates your trademark as a unique writer.

Why You Should Read Science Fiction Books

The Internet and television have made it so that many people do not read books any more. People do not know what they are missing because reading is something that provides entertainment and knowledge at the same time. Science fiction books are a great read because they allow your mind to run wild. Science fiction makes people think that anything can be possible if you just imagine it. For example, a creature from the sea may rise up from the water with eight legs and two heads in a science fiction book. Most people would think that this is impossible but the book would try to convince you that it is true and your mind would have to use its reasoning skills. Science fiction books can really spark a persons interest in the sciences which can really help young children who are imaginative and want to channel that energy and creativity into something positive.

Good Children’s Books in Your “Fun Closet”

Do you have a “fun closet” for your kids? Or maybe it’s for you more than for them. For those times when the energy level is a little too high in the house, or it’s snowing outside and the kids are bored, or you just want some quality time with the children, it’s nice to have a closet or cupboard that’s filled with fun things to do. You could keep craft items, science experiments, play dough, finger paints, some good children’s books, and other fun activities in there to get out when something a little extra is called for. Sometimes an activity that is a little out of the ordinary does a lot to pick up the spirits of the whole family.

Now that I’ve mentioned books, you could turn that into something extra by having the kids act out some of the parts, reading with extra expression and voice changes with each character, dressing up in funny costumes and “being” some of the characters, and a few little extras like that. Kids love it and it makes the reading time all the more special.

Is Reality Fiction a “Real” Literary Genre?

This is a new genre of writing; it’s called reality fiction. And what it entails is a character, but he intertwines a number of ideas that involves reality; for example, some current event will pop up in the news, and that character will interact with that event, and the writing will link to those events and ideas. That’s the idea about these things, and that’s also the idea behind a lot of these other things that are being written by this author. There are a number of things that are actually pretty mysterious about these authors that are putting these things out. Some have compared the genre to Reality TV, but that may not be as much the case; perhaps it isn’t as scripted as everybody thinks the literary genre of reality fiction to be. Some believe that there are greater underlying truths that are running through these writings; i.E. That there’s more reality than fiction going on here.
