A lot of people have no idea about atm processing. They think that the ATM machines are operated by the tellers who work in different banks. Well, that is partially true because the machines are automated tellers. However, the actual process is a bit different than it may seem. When you enter the card in the machine, it reads the magnetically or electronically recorded data on the card. The first thing they do is that they verify the existence of the card. There is a database that helps them recognize the card. Then they try to understand what accounts are associated with the card. Depending on that, they give the user the option to choose the account. Then they allow the user to decide what he or she wants to do. They can choose from the options to refill the card, withdraw money from it or just check the balance.
